2/3 – Super Bowl Party: Hosted by Whitaker Family beginning @ 6:00 pm at their House. Dinner will be @ the party. Bells & Youth Choir still practicing.
2/9 (Sa) – 2^nd Easter Sunrise Service Drama Preparation Day – 12-3pm @ Church of the Cross. Lunch provided.
2/10 – Y.E.S. Sunday: Dinner & Visit with one of our honored church elders. Bells/Youth Choir practice. (M)
2/17 – Spiritual Nutrition: Fun with Talking Vegetables. Bells, Youth Choir, and YF (M)
2/22 -2/24 (Wk) – Road Trip Weekend: Indoor Water Park Trip – A weekend of Service, Worship, and Play. (M)

Super Bowl Party

After Bells and Choir practice, the youth are off to the Whitaker’s House to enjoy some Super Bowl festivities! Feel free to bring a friend, a board game, and a snack to share if you wish. Dinner will be provided.

Kick-off is set for 6:18 pm (EST), so we’ll have to hurry and get our party started @ 6pm. If football doesn’t interest you, or you find the Super Bowl commercials boring, there’s no need to worry. There will be plenty of food, fun, and friends to make for an excellent night!

Please make arrangements to be picked up from the Whitaker’s House:  2273 Dody Circle, Kettering, Ohio 45440.

All are welcome to stay for the game. However, we realize how long these games can sometimes last. So… pick-up may begin anytime after 8 pm.


 

Preparing for Easter

Easter will be upon us faster than we realize, so we best get all our “ducks in a row” so to speak. Though we will not be practicing parts or building sets, we will be ironing out the following details on Saturday, February 9:

• Assembling the Order of Worship for the Sunrise Service
• Picking parts and adding any additional short skits or music
• Agree on a video taping/practice schedule

We will begin @ Noon with lunch at Church of the Cross. Plan to conclude by 3 pm (whether we have completed the tasks above or not). Please come prepared with your enthusiasm and ideas! Last year’s drama was a big hit! Let’s not let our church family down!
 

Y.E.S. Sunday

We are going to add a little twist to youth group on February 10. There will still be dinner, as well as tons of laughs and fun. However, this Youth Engaged in Service (Y.E.S) Sunday we will be hosting one of our honored elders who was among the many we visited in December while Christmas caroling. Can any of you guess who might be joining us? Don’t miss out on this awesome night of service to our church family!

 

Special Nutrition Night – Fun with Talking Vegetables

Have you ever wanted to re-live some great moment in your childhood? If I could do that right now I would probable re-live the day I received my super-awesome, sidewalk jumping orange Dukes of Hazard big wheels. I loved riding that toy so much I wore it out … literally the wheels broke off.

So why am I sharing this story with you? To show that it’s okay to re-visit the “kid” inside ourselves sometime. Better yet, it’s fun to be a “big kid” every once in awhile. Join us on Sunday, February 17 as we get silly and gain some spiritual nutrition from our childhood friends the VeggieTales
 

Road Trip Weekend

Hey Youth! Has the weather gotten you down? Have your day dreams been filled with thoughts of lounging around the swimming pool in the warm sunshine?  Then we have a trip that will make you smile and turn daydreams into reality!

Join us February 2/22 -2/24 for a Road Trip designed for service to others, worship, and out-of-this-world recreation.

What does this trip include?

• Serving a small town church in Bradner, Ohio, by helping complete a thorough cleaning.
• An evening outing on Saturday that is sure to be filled with fun and mystery.
• Trip to Kalahari Resort Indoor Water Park where we can enjoy 135,000 square feet of aquatic attractions

What does this trip cost? Only $65! Meals, Lodging, and Admission to various attractions are included in this amount. We will even have time to do homework … so our trip doesn’t cause us to fall behind in our studies.
 

Confirmation Retreat and Updates

Below you will find some basic info and dates to mark on your calendar regarding upcoming confirmation events:

• Fri., February 29 – Sun., March 2 – 2nd Confirmation Retreat @ Widewater Retreat & Ministry Center.
• Fri., April 11 – Sat., April 12 – 3rd and Final Confirmation Retreat @ Lybrook’s Residence.

More details about the 2^nd retreat will be arriving via e-mail very soon. Don’t forget to be working on our homework for the February retreat which includes: Memorizing the Apostles’ Creed.
